white woman, are you forreal?

because black and brown crime usually isn’t against each other, it’s about shooting and stabbing random white women. ok.

In grad school I had an international student explain to me that I was less likely to be mugged by a black man because I am black. He really believed this. Whoever posted this really believes this. Lots of people really believe this. These assholes really think this shit doesnt happen to us. Thats what makes it so easy to ignore when it does happen to us.

lord, my heartrate.
universe, grant me the fucking stability to not fucking KILL one of these broads IRL.
amen.

THE FUCK?! I can’t even…

yeah, it’s like sometimes I think it would be cool to be white so I didn’t automatically think of police officers as threats to my personal safety.

Reblogged for commentary.

My mother is a naturalized citizen, born in Mexico, BUT my last name is “Collins”, and I’m light enough that most people think I’m all European. Most people. NOT all policemen.
Thinking of the police as anything OTHER than a threat to the personal safety is so alien to me that I didn’t realize there WERE people who didn’t fear them…
Read that again: I assumed ALL civilians viewed the police as armed thugs, and the paramilitary arm of internal state control. Until I was 33 years old.
Trust me, white privilege is alive and well.
